Martina with two young women from Guatemala who she hopes will have access to student loans

This morning I came across a post on the Vittana.org blog about one woman’s extra efforts on behalf of microfinance. Martina Welke is a generous person, as is evidenced by her work with Vista, her volunteer work overseas, and, most recently, by her decision to run a marathon to raise money for student loans around the world.

I was also pleased to learn that Martina became interested in microfinance after attending our event featuring Matt Flannery last March. These are the kinds of stories that keep us motivated to connect the microfinance community.

To read more of Martina’s story, check out “Marathon for Microfinance“.
