Kiva Tests Microfinance Matching

Kiva continues to innovate in its methods of fundraising for both donations and loan capital. The newest feature is a matching program that allows current lenders to pair up with new lenders. Essentially, current lenders allocate a certain amount of their loan capital to be disbursed by new lenders. The idea is to give new borrowers a sense of greater impact, while addressing one of the key dilemmas of the Kiva site: dormant capital in current lenders’ accounts.

This is great. This exact structure was very successful for the Obama campaign in building a sense of community and that the donor was actually part of a movement.
