How does microfinance actually work? What does it look like up close? This week, follow along as Chris Megargee of Global Partnerships posts updates–via real-time Facebook and Twitter updates–from a trip he’s leading to some of the most remote and spectacular areas of Peru to see microfinance programs in action. Here are some of the latest updates:

April 27, 10:21pm “We arrived back in Seattle safe and sound this afternoon after a very inspiring PartnerTrip in Peru. You can read more details about it in our second travelogue posting.”

April 25, 9:55pm “We had a fantastic time exploring the Inca ruins at Machu Picchu today. We all marveled at the beauty of the location and the incredible architectural and engineering know-how of the people who built the complex hundreds of years ago.”

April 25, 3:27pm: “Yesterday, visited Arariwa client in remote village 2 hrs outside of Cusco. Double translation of conversation from Quechua to Spanish to English.”
