February Microfinance and Microbrews: Lumana

January 29, 2010 2 Comments

Please join SeaMo as we feature Seattle microfinance startup Lumana at our February Microfinance and Microbrews event.

When: February 18, 6pm-9pm RSVP on Facebook

Where: 1201 1st Avenue South Seattle, WA 98134-1238  www.pyramidbrew.com

Lumana was founded in 2008 by UW graduate, Sammie Rayner, who saw the value of providing microcredit to rural communities in Ghana. From a pilot project of 30 loan recipients, Lumana has grown over the last year to serve nearly 150 borrowers with more than 10 volunteer staff serving the organization. The Lumana team just returned from New York City where they were highlighted at the 2nd Annual Microfinance Summit for their successful approach to reaching the bottom of the pyramid in Africa.  After speaking among some of the top leaders in sustainable development, Lumana will now share their vision and announce new partnerships with both Literacy Bridge and Google-supported Open Data Kit to the Seattle community.
