4 Great Events for Microfinance

May 9, 2009 2 Comments

In just the last three days, SeaMo has attended the Chicago Microfinance Conference, the Pacific Northwest Microfinance Conference, and the San Diego Microfinance Summit.

Elena Dalcourt represented us on Thursday in San Diego, where attendance was phenomenal and local tv and radio outlets covered the event.

I attended the Chicago Microfinance Conference yesterday, held at the Booth School of Business. There were 300+ attendees, including students, bankers, nonprofit professionals, investors, and professors. The two keynote speakers, Vikram Akula and Michael Chu, both made a strong case for the commercialization of microfinance.

Dylan Higgins, Kate Jackson and others from SeaMo are attending the Pacific Northwest Microfinance Conference today, and Dylan will be tweeting @seamomicro for those on twitter. The conference sold out a couple of weeks ago, but organizers are encouraging folks to attend Careers in Microfinance on Tuesday at the Seattle Central Library.

  1. Great job on last night’s Careers in Microfinance event and last weekend’s valuable conference. A shout out to Ryan, Melissa, Dylan, Clea and the other SeaMo Boardmembers & volunteers. Thank you for the quality programs, the ongoing web updates and your continual efforts to connect the Seattle microfinance community. We are indebted to you.

I’ve been reading about your company and I’ve actually donated to another microfinance company that you might want to network with. They are called Enterprise Mentors International and this is their website :) I hope everything works out!
